历史
The 雅典 Mental Health Center opened on January 9, 1874 on l和 purchased from the Coate's farm. The Administration building housed offices of the Superintendent, assistant physicians, 管家, 和 a general reception room for visitors. Two wings added to the building were used for patients. The second floor contained apartments of the medical superintendent. The third 和 fourth floors were used for administrative offices.
亨利•林
Lin, a ceramicist, served as dean of the College of Fine Arts, 1972-1984. Lin 和 his wife Julia, also an Ohio University professor, were parents to architect/sculptor Maya Lin. 林大厅 at the Ridges is named in 亨利•林's honor.
Edwin 和 Ruth Kennedy
Kennedy Museum is named in honor of Edwin Kennedy 和 Ruth Zimmerman Kennedy who were great supporters of Ohio University.
A native of Marion, OH, Edwin was educated at Ohio University, Ohio State University, 和 Harvard Business School. In 1941, he joined the Lehman Brothers Investment Firm 和 eventually became a senior partner. He served 在 Ohio University board of Trustees from 1959 through 1975. In 1930, he began collecting artwork, which developed into a world-renowned collection. The Kennedys donated the Southwest Native American Collection to Ohio University for the museum. They established the John C. Baker Fund, which provided the Edwin L. 和露丝·E. Kennedy Distinguished Professor Award 和 the Baker Research Award. He served 在 Ohio University Fund (Ohio University Foundation), National Alumni Association Board, 和 was Trustee of 希兰 College, 希兰, OH. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit Award at Ohio University in 1963.
露丝E. Kennedy was a 1930 graduate of Ohio University. She 和 her husb和 endowed three major programs at Ohio University: the Kennedy Lecture Series, the Distinguished Professor Award, 和 the Baker Research Award. They also donated the Southwest Native American Collection to the university. 夫人. Kennedy was awarded the Certificate of Merit Award in 1963. She was a member of the Greater New York Alumni Chapter, American Association of University Women, American Red Cross, University Club, 和 Women's Republican Club.
